Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has congratulated General Asim Munir on the post of Chief of Army Staff and General Sahir Shamshad on assuming the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. Leaders of the ruling party have reacted strongly to Imran Khan's Twitter congratulatory statement about the apolitical role of the army of the founder of Pakistan.

 •General Asim Munir has taken over the command of the army as the new army chief.

 •According to Tehreek-e-Insaf, the dissolution of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies has been approved in the party meeting. 

•Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that if Imran Khan asks him to dissolve the assemblies, he will do so immediately.
